This is the third collaboration of Nicholas Kirkwood for the Mulleavy sisters of Rodarte. The shoe is made of screw nuts, metal plates and thorns, soften by the twirling leather details to compliment Rodarte’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection. Call it punk!

@ Daslu: Chanel

Along the launch of "Coco Avant Chanel" in Brazil, the luxury department store Daslu has launched a special selection of Chanel must-have items. I totally love all the handbags, each one is more elegant than the other. My favorite items are both the red and black handbags, they are very Coco style, the woman. Check out the Daslu website for more informations (in portuguese).

Japan Fashion Week: Suzuki Takayuki - Lithium Homme/Femme | Summer 2010

photo035_large03

Suzuki Takayuki is one of the most theatrical designer I have ever seen. Actually, he used to design for theatre before, and it seems that he didn't loose his way. The entire collection is designed under the Baroque theme, and black and white are the main colors. Maybe it doesn't look like a very wearable outfits, but I find it very original mixing these looks with jeans or anything else.

photo025_large03 photo025_large14

Lithium Homme/Femme presented a bright and feminine looks for both men and women collections. My favorite were these two men's outfits above. It is completely not my style and I'm not seeing myself wearing it, but I find it very daring, because we are used to see à la Yves Saint Laurent women dressing like men, but not men wearing almost like women. Plus, I love the leather pants, it is more than in Vogue and they allways look stylish.

I love this photoshoot by
Kate Moss for Top Shop Christmas 2009 collection. It is nothing wow, but Kate's usual sensuality mixed with these red colors make these pictures very sexy and mysterious. The collection is kind of flower bomb style and black is the main color. Kate,
you're the last of the english roses...

Japan Fashion Week: Motonari Ono - Odradek - Izreel | Summer 2010

photo030_large11 photo030_large13
I love the Barocco style in which Motonari Ono got inspired for Summer 2010 collection, from the clothes to the accessories. It is such an elegant and feminine collection, made by sober but different colors and the handbags are just beautiful. Plus, look at the redhead detail on every girls, isn't it original?

photo031_large07 photo031_large18

Odradek has presented one of my favorite collections for Spring/Summer 2010 season, at Japan Fashion Week. I totally love the insane idea of mixing all these different fabrics, but everything very good looking. I must say I can see a little bit of both Karl Lagerfeld (the man) and Dior Homme styles on this collection, because of the colors, the looks, but also a very original Japanese style on the shorts and tennis. Totally Love It!

photo020_large04 photo020_large12
The designer Izreel has created a very rock and roll style collection maybe, I love the prints on the clothes, specially on these two, and the shoes are very West looking.

Being Japan one of the greatest markets in fashion, I had to publish here its fashion week too. I think that nowadays fashion has no barriers of nationality, so it makes no sense to show just the most important fashion weeks (Paris, New York, Milan and London), because there are a lot of great fashion houses around the world that deserve to be shown too, and these three above are the first magnificent ones from Japan Fashion Week that Maison Chaplin is sharing with you, so I hope you enjoy it!

Giorgio Armani preparing to retire

GiorgioArmani-01

My beloved and favorite fashion designer
Giorgio Armani announced this week after an Emporio Armani fashion show in Moscow that he is preparing his retirement and making plans for who will take over his fashion empire. Armani has been vague about his plans and has not publicly designated a successor on either the creative or the management side, but rumors say that his nephew Roberta Armani may took his place. I think that the fact he is 75 years old is not the only reason, but also his hepatitis disease diagnosed in May this year, which let him down since then.

I feel sad for this, but if he gets someone has good as he is, Giorgio Armani will still be one of the most successful luxury fashion houses in the world, with more than 1.7 billion dollars annual profits, as you can see on its annual report (press here) available on his website. I allways said that I don't wear brands, I wear fashion, and Giorgio Armani is one of the best examples for this sentence. I like to wear very different styles, and Armani is one of them. He became one of the biggest fashion houses in the world without following trends like all the others did. He allways had his own (extremely elegant) style, which allways amused the fashion world. It might be a more commercial line than some others, but he's allways on top, most of the fashion companies are not.

Prada has started a very interesting project named "JWP Epicenter Project", which is a new collection of souvenir t-shirts with the floor plans and frontages of the brand’s seminal flagship stores printed on them. The Jersey White Prada collection comes in different shades for the different stores: white for Tokyo, Los Angeles and Montenapoleone Donna; red for New York City; sky blue for Montenapoleone Uomo; light green for London and black or white for Galleria. I find this a very fun collection, nothing over the top but an interesting and captivating project, I can't wait to see them live!

For October 2009 issue, Vogue Italia has made one of the most fun photoshoot of the month. The editorial named as 'Too Shy Shy Hush Hush' was shot by the great Steven Meisel, featuring Simon Nessman, Karlie Kloss, Iris Strubegger and many more. My favorite picture is the 8th for sure, it reminds me of John Galliano, so crazy and provocative.

Rafe New York: Winter 2010 collection on the street

Photos shot and gently sent to Maison Chaplin from Rafe Totengco, CEO and designer for Rafe New York

For Fall 2009 Rafe New York has channeled the glory days of New York City’s nightlife into

a brand new collection that represents a significant departure for the brand. All

those 1980s nights spent at the Copa, Area and Palladium, dancing ‘til dawn,

have translated into pieces where Uptown girls can channel their downtown chic.

Rafe’s muses have their iPods loaded with The Ting Tings and Karen O, are venturing to Brooklyn for concerts at the McCarren Pool and have practiced the art of fashionable layering to Bohemian perfection. Their heels are higher than ever, their bags are gently distressed and occasionally perforated and carefully placed zippers, studs and chains add that perfect, accessible-edgy finishing touch.
