Like Ana says, there are some great labels that survived and some others that didn't, and unfortunately Claude Montana was one of them. However, the purpose of this post is to celebrate the great years of Montana that everyone went crazy to get any "piece of art" from this fabulous fashion designer. Enjoy these great images and video via Ana Clara Garmendia.

  1. It's really good to read about Claude Montana. There were a number of great fashion designers coming out of Paris in the 1980s and 1990s: Jean-Paul Gaultier, Thierry Mugler, Claude Montana, Christian Lacroix are four of them, but only the house of Gaultier has survived! I really do miss Mugler & Montana, especially now that the clearest proponent of their style (Alexander McQueen) is no longer with us. I hope that Christian Lacroix will design again soon. Otherwise, fashion would not be the same again!

Do you remember Montana's collections for Lanvin? They were superb, although they (reportedly) almost bankrupted the house of Lanvin!

What with Hedi Slimane, Christophe Decarnin, Nicolas Ghesquière, Christophe Lemaire & others, there now is a plethora of new talented French designers. They have decided to work for other fashion houses, rather than take the risk of starting their own label! Perhaps we shalle njoy their work longer, then?

  2. PS. I forgot Hervé Léger, now forced to trade under the name of Hervé L. Leroux.
