Emporio Armani Winter 2012 campaign video
Photographed by Mario Sorrenti, features models Iselin Sterio and Simon Nessman.
To bring the campaign to life, Mario Sorrenti has shot a short film starring the two models. Drawing on Giorgio Armani's love of cinema, this narrative references the aesthetic of film noir, and features an Emporio Armani couple in a contemporary, urban, industrial setting. There is an air or mystery and youthful excitement here, very appropriate to Emporio Armani new collection.

"Madame Grès, couture at work" exhibition at the Musée Bourdelle, Paris

Madame Grès by Crespi. Femina, April 1949
This was the first Paris retrospective dedicated to Madame Grès (1903-1993). A mistress of couture who was adored by her peers, Madame Grès repeated throughout her life, "I wanted to be a sculptor. For me, working with fabric or stone is the same thing".
In the world of fashion, she was the pioneer of an intransigent minimalism. The sculpted dresses of Madame Grès have found a home at the Bourdelle Museum. The exhibition showcased 80 creations from the collections of the Galliera Museum, as well as loans from private collectors and contemporary designers.

The exhibition allowed visitors to discover her most beautiful creations: evening dresses – drapes which in 1976 earned her a Dé d’or (Golden Thimble). Created between the 30s and the 80s, always in jersey and often ivory or pearl grey, these sculptural dresses have radiantly withstood the test of time. They were photographed by Richard Avedon and Guy Bourdin and widely featured in women’s magazines. Her dresses and coats remain an inspiration for couturiers and designers today.

"Make It Hard" exhibition by Helmut Lang

Installation view
The Fireplace Project, a contemporary art gallery/project in East Hampton presents "MAKE IT HARD", a solo exhibition by Helmut Lang. The exhibition is presented by Neville Wakefield and it will be on display through August 8, 2011.
"The columnular forms that rise from floor to ceiling invoke forces of nature and culture. They suggest both the accretive geological slowness of stalactites, and the destructive force of tornadoes. And if their material has been subjected to similar violence here it takes on the graceful abstract form of the endless columns; odes perhaps to Brancusi’s sculptural connection between terrestrial form and spiritual grace, life, and afterlife. Lang’s ambiguous forms are made not of stone or bronze, but of the objects and things he created during his twenty odd years as a fashion designer. The archive that stood testament to his immense achievement within that
field - he had shredded. The materials and fabrics he used to give temporary definition to the body are now just traces of natural and synthetic fibers, plastics, metals, leathers, fur, skins, feathers and hair - erasing the past and the difference they once stood for. Thus metabolized, the material began to take the form of strangely beautiful excretions: witnesses to both the transience of our creative endeavors, and the enduring need out of which such efforts are born." - Neville Wakefield.

Aqua Di Lara 2012 Swimwear fashion show - Miami
Pink and prints are the name of the game for brand name Aqua Di Lara at Miami Swim Fashion Week 2012. Designer Reyhan Sofraci may be based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada but the statement-making style of her swimsuits seem to fit right in with the eye-catching style of Miami beachwear. There's a European element to some of the bathing suits. After all, Sofraci sells her wares in Canada, USA, France, Belgium, Monaco, The Netherlands, and United Arab Emirates, but the bathing suits and cover-ups still hold on to the vibrant, fun and fancy-free party girl vibe of the Miami Beach/South Beach landscape.

Cia Maritima 2012 Swimwear fashion show - Miami
Cia Maritima may be known on the Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo runways, but they can also make an impact in Miami! The Brazilian swimwear brand unveiled its 2012 collection during Miami Swim Fashion Week 2012. At least 40 smokin' hot looks were showcased.
The collection had an elegant French Riviera theme mixed with a 70's retro vibe that showcased the ladies who vacation on sophisticated tropical islands. Still, it also had an element of bohemian chic which was displayed in the various patterns and cover-ups. Exotic prints were everywhere, but they were mixed and matched in unique ways.
