Konrad Parol Winter 2012 "Les Mercenaires" collection

Konrad Parol's autumn winter collection LES MERCENAIRES is the next rebeliant uncover of the designer. This time it is much more conscious and mature. LES MERCENAIRES are the 21st Century contestants. The subject of rebels and outsiders, presented in collections for several seasons, this time was reinterpreted in a more contemporary way. The starting point for designing the collection was a romantic rebel fighting for a just cause.
Konrad Parol proposes a figure that is rough and geometric. It is dominated by architectural forms and the asceticism of the line. The seemingly drab colors have been broken by strong and orange accents. What characterize Parol's style is a form and great quality; the clothes were made of high quality fabrics and materials: cotton, leather and wool.

Gucci and Ai Tominaga's charity fashion show in Japan
Gucci and Ai Tominaga held a charity fashion show with Gucci garments from the Fall/Winter 2011/2012 season in Milan. The event opened with a model wearing the same dress worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 2011 Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala. Top model Ai Tominaga helped put the event together with Gucci because she wanted to help Japan heal after the devastating earthquake.
Ai Tominaga was also on hand to share champagne with the guests in a toast to Japan. Tominaga herself made an appearance in the show, walking in a flowing yellow gown with feathers and a bow at the collar.
"Gucci and I had the rare chance to present one of the best fashion shows to the Japanese people and to show them how great fashion is...and that fashion can be a dream" Tominaga said.
Get the book: "Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent"
Karl Lagerfeld once said that if you close your eyes and imagine the ideal French woman, it would be Carine Roitfeld. She is a fashion visionary and a muse. Since the start of her career in the early 1990s, through her collaborations with the legendary photographer Mario Testino, Roitfeld has been credited with launching Tom Ford's career at Gucci, as well as turning French Vogue into one of the industry's most worshipped magazines.
This elegant volume is a visual history of Roitfeld's fearless career. A daring instigator, she is known for pushing the limits with her subversive styling ideas. Featuring a selection of 250 magazine tear sheets and covers from pivotal editorial shoots and advertising campaigns, as well as intimate visual ephemera, this book gives an inside view into Roitfeld's creative thought process and sensibility. A must-have for those interested in cutting-edge fashion and femininity, this book will empower women to follow Roitfeld's lead and take risks with their personal style.
"Carine, and her vision of French Vogue, embodies all that the world likes to think of as Parisian style: a sense of chic that's impeccable and sometimes idiosyncratic and which forever lives on a moonlit street as seen through the lens of Helmut Newton." - Anna Wintour

Os Burgueses Winter 2012 campaign

Two years ago, the fashion designers duo, Mia Lourenço and Eleutério, began a collection cycle reporting the life of Jane Doe in IV acts. The Fall 2011 collection – Nuclear Winter – is the final act where Jane manages to accomplish the prophecy of leaving this world by the hands of the Bionic-Man. In the environment inhabits an atmosphere of suspension. The last moments seen in slow motion: the coldness of the machinery, the restlessness of the humans and the peace of the prophet…
What comes after the prophecy?
Mia Lourenço and Eleutério at the end of this story found the starting point for the new future. In the suspension they found time to take a deep breath, assimilate and discover new concepts. They build their future in the need of creating art, innovate and reinvent, to appreciate what happened, what happens and what will happen. The future is Urban Poetry.

'The Bikini Book' and 'The T-Shirt Book' by ASSOULINE

Assouline presents the authoritative volume on the bikini with iconic images from its history, a study of its symbolism, and a look at the most defining fashions. A sexy alternative to the one-piece swimming costume, the bikini forever changed the way women relate to their bodies. "Smaller than the world's smallest bathing suit," as it was first described by its creator Frenchman Louis Reard, the bikini has become a symbol of female sensuality and liberation. Here is a four hundred page tribute to the Hollywood pin-ups of the 50s; Bond girls Ursula Andress and Halle Berry rising up from the sea; the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, birthplace of the tanga; Brigitte Bardot, topless and poolside in St. Tropez; the itsy bitsy teeny weeny styles of the 60s; beach bodies on spring break; the monokini, tankini, bandini, and v-kini; the strappy and the sporty; the sexy and the outrageous. But whether iconic or ordinary, scandalous or social, every image of the bikini in this luscious volume is about beauty. Shop on Assouline.com.

During the 1950s, the T-shirt, rebelliously cultivated by such legends as James Dean and Marlon Brando, became an essential item in every adolescent's wardrobe, and it has remained so ever since. Both democratic and fashionable, this basic yet timeless piece of clothing is an expressive forum coveted by political movements, the art world, and advertising alike. The T-shirt—herald of striking messages, carrier of poignant slogans—has written the history of the modern world. Whether vintage or personalized, the T-shirt truly deserves a genuine biography. Dilek Hanif Haute Couture Winter 2012

The new collection by Dilek Hanif for next winter is inspired by the stylistic heritage of Ottoman tradition – a distinctive element that has always characterized the sartorial philosophy of the couturière - exalted by the sophisticated touch of glamour that evokes the golden age of the 1970s.
The palette alternates the chromatic luxuriousness of timeless colours, such as black and midnight blue, to the intense elegance of cherry red and purple. Sumptuous contrasts are created through touches of gold, skilful inserts and mixes of materials that reveal effects of the light and refined transparencies on the surface.
The lines hug the body with close-fitting and ultra-feminine shapes that slim the silhouette in long mermaid dresses, evening jumpsuits, timeless suits and outfits that combine voluptuous blouses with soft trousers and skirts worthy of a red carpet.
