Dolce&Gabbana celebrates Italian cinema, a continuous source of inspiration for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who imagine the Menswear Summer 2012 campaign as a film interpreted by real actors: Giuseppe Fiorello, Francesco Scianna, Filippo Nigro, Thomas Trabacchi, Primo Reggiani and Chiara Francini.

The photos shot by Mariano Vivanco are intentionally candid and reminiscent of scenes from an Italian-style comedy, where actors portray life in a Southern Italian village: a baptism, Sunday with the family, a portrait with mother, at the bar with friends, afternoons at the beach, courting the village beauty, guy talk, a stolen kiss on the docks and a birthday party with relatives.

The Dolce&Gabbana woman Spring-Summer 2012 ad campaign is inspired by female cinema star icons such as Anna Magnani, Monica Vitti and especially Sofia Loren. 
Monica Bellucci stars in the campaign shot by Giampaolo Sgura, alongside model Bianca Balti, interpreting the images as if they were scenes from an upbeat comedy set in Southern Italy.

The images, which portray scenes such as a godson’s communion, highlight the values of Dolce&Gabbana: Italian spirit, tradition, family, love, passion, joie de vivre and the ability to capture the modernity of the past and to render it contemporary.
