MINI Paceman at the Salone del Mobile 2013

MINI has always been an icon of creativity and innovation. Said this, MINI couldn't miss the opportunity to participate at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, where it is hosting the "MINI KAPOOOW!" installation, where the new MINI Paceman is showcased as a sculpture.

The installation is divided in two phases. In the first one, we can see the rear end of the MINI Paceman as a sculpture, a chromed car about to embark on its metamorphosis. As seen below, the components of the car seem to fly apart

In the second phase, the MINI Paceman crosses a boundary in the middle of the room. The front end of the car turns into paper, getting a new physical form. The use of paper symbolises the "prototyping" of a creative process and as such opens up the possibility of drawing on its two-dimensionality to represent a new three-dimensional sculpture.
