The passion for science-fiction drives the Guy Laroche Spring-Summer 2014 collection. A technological exploration of crafts, textures and shapes run through the collection like a golden thread. A cutting-edge fusion of silk and polyamide allowing for minimal cuts gives way to a smooth, one-piece trenchcoat with curvy, organic volumes. Optic fibre is used to give high-tech fringes to shift dresses. This is contrasted by an ‘under the microscope’ effect achieved by tiny, individually sewn patches of leather, for an artisanal-meets-high tech ethos and futuristic effect.
