The Dolce & Gabbana men's Summer 2013 collection presented in Milan made a difference, as the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana chose Sicilian men to walk the runway in lieu of models.
The personality, simplicity and natural beauty which emanates from the faces of these men is the current source of inspiration for Dolce&Gabbana. In his work, “L’isola plurale”, Gesualdo Bufalino, a great connoisseur of Sicily and of being Sicilian, best described the distinguishing characteristics of Sicilian people: their personalities and vices, induced by history, climate and insularity.
Wool or linen gauze layered with organza or veil. Souvenir style prints reminiscent of Sicily and of traditional Sicilian barrows, “ pupi” ( typical Sicilian puppets) and temples. White shirts with open collars. Printed stripes on thick hem cloth or cotton inspired by the Sicilian beaches such as those of Taormina, Cefalù, Mondello and the Eolie islands. Open shoes that recall sandals and shoes made of cloth.
